How to backup databases in SQL server | cloud backup
To back up the database regularly is the most important part of any business or company. Not only the IT person, common employee should know the process of backup of SQL Server. This is very simple and easy to understand. I have made this video 'How to backup databases in SQL server' through Microsoft Visual Studio for those people who doesn't know how to do this. In information technology, a backup, or data backup is a copy of computer data taken and stored elsewhere so that it may be used to restore the original after a data loss event.
Process given step by step:
- Open SQL Server Management Studio Express and connect to the SQL server. Expand Databases.
- Right-click on the database that you want to take a backup, then select Tasks and then Back up.
- On the Back Up Database window will appear, now make sure the Database field contains the name of the database you want to back up.
- Select the Backup Type. By default, it is Full - leave it set to that.
- then click on remove button to remove the last backup file name otherwise it will back up in existing file.
- click add to open the select backup destination window.
- click next to the file name field.
- browse the location or folder where you want to keep the backup file. In the File Name field, type the name for this backup, with a .bak extension. For example, backup_file.bak
- Click OK to close the Locate Database Files window.
- Click OK to close the Select Backup Destination window.
- Click OK to start the backup. The progress icon displays in the lower-left corner, and a "completed successfully" message displays when it is done.
